Schoolyard Clean-Up Challenge

In celebration of Source Water Protection Week
CALLING ALL TEACHERS!
This Source Water Protection Week, we’re challenging students to become Watershed Warriors and help protect our local water sources – starting right in their own schoolyard!
Every piece of litter picked up is one less piece of garbage that could be carried by rain or melting snow into a storm drain and eventually into our local waterways.
YOUR MISSION
Gather your class, grab your gloves and become Watershed Warriors!
During the challenge, students will:
- Clean up their schoolyard and surrounding areas
- Learn how water moves through our community
- Discover how litter can make its way into storm drains and waterways
- identify potential sources of water pollution
- Take action to protect our watershed and drinking water
THE CHALLENGE
Schools will track their cleanup efforts and compete to become the: 2026 WATERSHED WARRIORS CHAMPION!
Points can be earned for participation, litter collected, identifying water protection concerns, completing the watershed activity and showing off your Watershed Warrior spirit with a photo tagging the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority on Facebook or Instagram.
THE PRIZE
All participating classes will be entered into a draw and the winning class will receive a WATERSHED WARRIORS PIZZA PARTY!…and a special visit from Drippy the Raindrop!
WHY DOES IT MATTER?
What happens on your schoolyard doesn’t always stay on your schoolyard.
Rain and melting snow can carry litter and pollutants into storm drains and local waterways. By keeping our schoolyards clean and learning how water moves through our community, you can help protect the water we all depend on.
