Under the Clean Water Act, the Mattagami Region Conservation Authority Board takes on special duties related to source protection. When they carry out these duties, they are called the Source Protection Authority.
The duties of the Source Protection Authority include:
- Appoints Source Protection Committee Members
- Supports source protection plan implementation and tracks reports on the progress
- Responsible for amending the source protection plan and engaging the Source Protection Committee, municipalities and others in these revision.
